Contact with extraterrestrials: how would humanity react?

Contact with extraterrestrial
The unveiling of extraterrestrial existence, if it ever transpires, will undoubtedly be a monumental event in human history, sending shockwaves throughout our world. Organizations and experts specializing in Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) have been advocating for "complete revelation" that alien interaction has already transpired. Meanwhile, devices like the James Webb telescope are providing us with an intricate view of the cosmos. Over time, this wealth of data may reveal that Earth isn't the sole planet sustaining life, or that life in the universe is more prevalent than we currently believe.

What might be our response to the realization of extraterrestrial existence?

Carol Cleland, a Philosophy faculty member at the University of Colorado, contends that it's too early to claim Earth's inhabitants have encountered extraterrestrial beings, particularly considering the lack of comprehensive data regarding potential alien technology.

"All we have are some subjective summaries that have been sensationalized," Cleland said. "Harvard's Galileo Project is a secular attempt to acquire the pertinent technical information to address this question scientifically."

The primary goal of the Galileo Project is to detect potential signs of alien technological civilization. Essentially, scientists are developing advanced equipment to scout for potential extraterrestrial tools in the vicinity of Earth.

At present, there exists no universal consensus on how our species should engage with a potential extraterrestrial civilization. It would be wise to establish such guidelines prior to such an encounter taking place.
