ISS spotted an exotic type of inverted lightning bolt called Blue Jet

9:29 PM |

‘Blue Jet’ lightning was seen ascending from the International Space Station

It's bright blue lightning coming from storm clouds.

Blue jets They can be difficult to see from the ground as the electrical discharge erupts from the top of the thunder clouds.  But from space, scientists can look at this projection of light from above.

Blue jets appear to appear when the upper region of the positively charged cloud interacts with the negatively charged boundary between the cloud and the air above, according to the report.  The blue plane arises as a result of this “electrical break”, in which opposite charges change places in the cloud and neutralize each other for a short period, resulting in the release of static electricity.
