Uncovering New Galaxies
These found galaxies are considerably larger than previously known galaxies at similar distances offering fresh insights into the early universe. Bingjie Wang, one of the authors of the study commented that studying these far off galaxies is crucial for validating our theories about how galaxies form and evolve.
A Peek into the Ancient Cosmos
Before this study three galaxies had been confirmed at such immense distances. By studying these discovered galaxies scientists have started to comprehend the diverse characteristics of early universe galaxies. Since it takes billions of years for their light to reach us they provide a window into the past.
The Actual Distance of the Discovered Galaxies
According to the research teams findings the light captured by the James Webb Space Telescope originated from these two galaxies when the universe was, around 330 million years old.
This beam of light has traveled a distance of approximately 13.4 billion light years to reach us. However as a result of the universes expansion these galaxies are now believed to be situated around 33 billion light years away, from Earth.
