Holiday season is upon us, and the longing to take a break, possibly to the stunning beaches of Sicily, feels almost irresistible. However, one doesn't need to venture so far to bask in the sun, immerse in crystal clear waters, and revel in spectacular landscapes.
Our nation boasts numerous scenic beach resorts where you can unwind for a few days, while also being mindful of the environment.
This is once again demonstrated by the annual Five Sails ranking, a collaboration between Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, which honors the "most exquisite sea" and also the most welcoming and eco-friendly coastal towns.

Selection Procedure
How are the top beaches chosen? The ranking creators initially examine the water and beach quality data, utilizing information gathered by Legambiente's Goletta Verde.
A flourishing marine ecosystem is vital for a memorable holiday, but it's not the only consideration: the quality of hospitality, accessibility standards, and services provided to tourists all significantly contribute to the ranking.
Importantly, special attention is given to the existence, maintenance, and promotion of historical and artistic assets in the region.
