One such study, conducted by researchers at the University of Oregon (USA), investigated the habits of 159 married couples over a two-week period. According to the participants, the elevated mood resulting from sexual activity also translates into practical advantages in daily life commitments.
Indulging in a passionate night can significantly improve the mood of both men and women for several hours, positively influencing study and work performance. This effect is attributed to the release of chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin during sexual activity, which generate a sense of well-being and can heighten our motivation.
In addition, a collaborative study by American and South Korean researchers demonstrated that sexual activity in mice enhances cognitive function and stimulates the production of new neurons in the hippocampus, the brain region responsible for forming long-term memories. Engaging in sex could thus help alleviate stress – a known factor in impairing long-term memory – and foster the necessary drive to better manage work and study challenges.
