Get your wishes prepared, because on the nights of April 26 and 27, the sky will dazzle with the Bootid Alpha meteor shower. These stunning shooting stars are especially prominent this year, thanks to the absence of lunar interference. Prepare for two unforgettable and enchanting evenings of stargazing!

As April draws to a close, stargazers eagerly anticipate the breathtaking Alpha Bootides meteor shower. This year, lunar interference is minimal, making the celestial light show even more spectacular. Mark your calendars for the nights of April 26 and 27 to witness this celestial wonder.

The UAI (Unione Astrofili Italiani) states that the radiant point of the Alpha Bootids will be visible all night long this year, reaching its highest point (approximately 65°) around 1 a.m. The nights of April 26-27 and April 27-28 are ideal for meteor observations, as the Moon will set after midnight, providing optimal viewing conditions (weather permitting). The map illustrates the night sky on April 27 at approximately 1 a.m. local Italian time.

Although the Alpha Bootids are known for their relatively low frequency, they can produce remarkable displays, such as the 1984 event when 102 Bootids were observed within just 10 minutes.

Additionally, don't forget to catch the enchanting Moon-Mars "kiss" on the nights of April 25 and 26.

Prepare to make your wishes and fully immerse yourself in these extraordinary astronomical events.
