AN ISLAND WITH A STRANGE CIRCULAR SHAPE

Many regions of the world attract attention due to their extraordinary features. However, some geographical formations are able to differentiate themselves from others by the mysteries they contain and the strangeness they bring.

This is the island of El Ojo in Argentina, a really special place!

El Ojo means "eye" in Spanish. Because the island looks like a giant eye, especially when viewed from above. It has quite different characteristics from other geographical structures in its region.

Until recently nobody had the slightest clue when and how the island was formed! This is why the island has been at the center of a lot of interesting rumors and urban legends!

In reality it would be an accumulation of aquatic plant material.

The circle is almost perfect, measuring 120 m in diameter. It floated around its small basin and therefore moved around its axis, constantly taking a different position inside the basin. The outer edges of the island and the pond would have taken on a circular shape over time due to their rubbing during rotary motion.

There are several floating islands all over the world, even here in Italy,  but the one in Argentina is really unique in its form.
